Network Virtualization

Network virtualization is the process of logically grouping physical networks to operate as independent virtual networks, as defined by ITUT-T Y.3011. It involves physical components such as network adapters, switches, and routers to provide connectivity among servers and storage systems. This technology is particularly relevant in the context of virtual data centers.

Definition:
Network Virtualization terms based on
definitions in ITUT-T Y.3011(Framework of
Network virtualization for Future networks).
 Network Virtualization is a process of logically
grouping physical networks and making them
operate as single or multiple independent
networks called Virtual Networks.
ITUT-T Y.3011 refers virtual network as a logically
isolated network partition(LINP).
Example :
Network Virtualization in Virtual
Data Center :
Physical Network :
 Physical components: Network adapters, switches,
bridges, repeaters, routers and hubs.
 Grants connectivity among physical servers
running a hypervisor, between physical servers
and storage systems and between physical
servers and clients.
