Calculating
Device
Abacus was the first
calculating device
invented about 500
years ago by the
Chinese. It performs
simple calculation like
addition and
subtraction.
Abacus
Napier’s Bones was
invented by Scottish
Mathematician John
Napier in 1617. It was
means for simple
calculation like addition,
subtraction, multiplication
and division of numbers.
Napier’s
Pascaline was
invented by a French
Mathematician named
Blaise Pascal. It
consisted of a box with
a movable gears that
could add, subtract,
multiply and divide
number easily.

Babbage Analytical
Engine
- In 1822 Charles
Babbage developed a
machine known as
Difference Engine. It could
perform mathematical
operations automatically.
-In 1833 Babbage
developed another
machine called Analytical
Engine.
-It had all five key
featuring input, storage,
processor control unit and
an output device.
