Fractions
Fractions can be defined as numerator over denominator.
The number at the top is called numerator and the number at the
bottom is called denominator.
Following is way to write a fraction:
Numerator

Denominator
Fractions: Numerator & Denominator
Denominator tells the total number of parts a whole is being
equally divided into.
Numerator tells the number of parts being used out of total.
In the following example, square is divided in to four equal
parts out of which one part is shaded.
Total number of parts = 4
Number of shaded parts = 1 1
So, the fraction for shaded part is 4 .
3
And fraction for non-shaded parts is 4 .
