1
A-AIM (Lesson Purpose/Intention)
Define Patterns and Sequences:
Learn the definition of a pattern and a sequence and how
it forms an ordered list of numbers, shapes, or objects that
follow a specific rule.
Recognize and Analyze Sequences:
Identify and analyze different types of sequences by
determining their patterns and rules.
Differentiate Between Sequences and Non-Sequences:
Distinguish sequences from non-sequences by
understanding what makes a collection follow a specific
order or rule.
3
Differentiate Finite and Infinite Sequences:

L-LANGUAGE (Lesson Language Practice)
Write the following keywords, placing a box next to each
word on the left side. As you read each statement, write the
corresponding number inside the box next to the
appropriate
SEQUENCE keyword.
NON-SEQUENCE 1. A sequence that

C-COMPREHEND (Reading the Key Idea/Stem)
Identify the pattern from each sequence given.
Sequence 1:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday,
Saturday, Sunday
Each day follows the next in a weekly cycle.
Pattern:
Sequence 2:
red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet
Pattern: The colors of the rainbow in order.
Sequence 3:
2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, 26, 29, 32, …
Pattern: Each number increases by 3 to the previous
number.

U-UNPACK (Developing Understanding the Key Idea/Stem)
PATTERNS
Patterns in math is a specific rule or set of rules. It can
be seen in visual, numerical, or conceptual arrangement.
SEQUENCES
Sequences are set of numbers or objects arranged in a
specific order, following a particular rule or pattern.
NON-SEQUENCES
Non-sequences are arrangements or collections of
elements that do not follow a specific, ordered rule. They do
10 not have a predictable or repeating order.

FINITE SEQUENCE
Finite Sequence is a sequence that has a specific
number of terms.
Example:
The first five even numbers: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10.
INFINITE SEQUENCE
Infinite Sequence is a sequence that continues
indefinitely without ending.
Example:
The sequence of all even numbers: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, ...

A-APPLY (Mastering Learning)
Identify whether the series of numbers is a sequence or
NOT.
If sequence, tell whether it is finite or infinite.
1. 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, …→ Sequence→ Infinite
→ Not
2. 7, 4, -5, 9, -1
→ Sequence→ Infinite
3. ½, 1/3, ¼, 1/5, …
→ Sequence→ Infinite
4. 2, 6, 18, 54… → Sequence→ Finite

T-TRANSFER (Making Generalizations and Abstractions)
Patterns and Sequence:
What characteristic do all sequences share?
Identifying Patterns and Rules:
How do you find the rule or pattern in a sequence?
Sequences vs. Non-Sequences:
What features distinguish a sequence from a non-
sequence?
Finite vs. Infinite Sequences:
15 What is the difference between finite and infinite

Identify whether the series of numbers is a sequence or
NOT. If it is, determine and describe its pattern.
