Updates for multiple SQL Server ODBC versions

    We have computers on our network with multiple ODBC versions installed on the same machine.  For example, on one machine there is

    Microsoft ODBC Driver 17 for SQL Server 17.10.3.1

    and

    Microsoft ODBC Driver 18 for SQL Server 18.1.2.1

    Because of possible software dependency, it looks like you have to keep both versions and install updates for both.  Is that correct?

    In other words, you cannot uninstall 17 and expect all software to begin using 18.  Correct?

    Maybe. It depends on the demands of the app and if it can use the newer version. In some instances, yes, you'll be able to just uninstall 17 and everything will naturally, and automatically, start using 18. In some instances, nope. Testing will be the only way to be certain.
