With this successful static fire qualification, RPL has set the new world record for most powerful solid-rocket motor ever fired by students. This surpasses the 2018 Record set by Graveler II (USCRPL). RPL remains the only student team capable of firing R-class motors.
Most Powerful Composite-Case Motor (Amateur Rocketry)
Additionally, this static fire qualification set the world record for most powerful composite-case solid-rocket motor ever fired by amatuers’. This is particularly important, because not only is the Shockwave motor powerful it’s also extremely lightweight by utilizing high-strength composites.
