Microsoft released an amazing set of tools for testing previous versions of IE this week, including a webpage scanner, a partnership deal with BrowserStack, and — my personal favorite — pre-built VMs for every version of IE since 6.

I wish I could sketch/wireframe this well. Though I will say, I’ve been using Balsamiq Mockups for about a week and have found it far more useful than I imagined. Hope they do an integrated iPad version soon.
Subtle Patterns, patterns for Websites.
Love the collection forming here, but more than anything, I love that they offer the whole collection as a Photoshop pattern.
Users can now embed only the letters they need from a typeface, which will greatly improve load time. While I prefer TypeKit on most web design projects, Google definitely knocks it out of the park with simplicity (if you can put up with the limited selection).
So the next time you find yourself grumbling about declaring the same thing four times, once for each browser, remember that the pain is temporary. It’s a little like a vaccine—the shot hurts now, true, but it’s really not that bad in comparison to the disease it prevents.
