I specialize in the ecology of coastal ecosystems, with a particular focus on the biodiversity and geoecological functions of coral reefs and seagrass meadows. I evaluate the impacts of natural and anthropogenic disturbances on key functions such as calcium carbonate production, reef erosion, and herbivory, along with the dynamics of coral and fish communities. My research, conducted primarily in the western Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico, integrates experimental design, remote sensing, long-term monitoring, and data analysis to inform conservation and management strategies.
