FAQs

Android is the world's most popular mobile operating system, powering millions of devices from phones to tablets and beyond. With its flexible design and endless customization options, Android lets you make your phone truly yours.

With access to the Google Play Store, you'll have thousands of apps, games, and tools at your fingertips. Ready to find the best Android phones powered by Boost Mobile’s fast, reliable network? We've got you covered.

The latest version of Android is Android 16, which was officially released on June 10th, 2025. It’s loaded with powerful new features, improved security, and even more ways to customize your phone just the way you like it.

However, this version of Android is currently only available on select devices like the Google Pixel 10 (for now). Most cell phones, like Samsung and Motorola devices, will still be running Android 15. To check if your phone is able to run Android’s latest 16 version, visit their help site.

Android isn’t just for phones—it powers a range of devices. From smartphones and tablets to smartwatches, Android keeps you connected wherever you go. Whether you’re streaming, gaming, or staying productive, there’s an Android device for you. And with Boost Mobile’s fast, reliable network, your Android device works better, no matter where life takes you.

Boost Mobile supports many Android devices, including:

  • Samsung
  • Motorola
  • Nokia
  • Celero

If you’re planning to bring your own Android device to Boost, check if your phone is compatible by using your phone’s IMEI number on our website. You can find your IMEI number by dialing *#06# or by going to Settings > About Phone > Status on an Android phone.

As the world’s most popular mobile operating system, Android is used by a multitude of major cell phone manufacturers. The latest Samsung device powered by Android is the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which premiered in February 2025.

Meanwhile, Google’s newest device, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is redefining what an Android phone can do. Its 8-inch Super Actua Flex display delivers a massive yet thin foldable design, perfect for multitasking and entertainment.

With next-gen AI from Gemini, it can instantly create high-quality videos, reimagine photos with advanced blending tools, and provide real-time insights with Magic Cue. Folded, the 6.4-inch Actua display feels like a compact Pixel Pro, and its gearless, high-strength hinge is rated for over 10 years of folding—making it a powerful, versatile companion for all aspects of your life.

Of course, as an Android phone, it’s fully customizable and compatible with a wide range of apps, accessories, and phone plans, including options like our Infinite Access for Galaxy, making it one of the most versatile smartphones available this year.

While Samsung hasn’t made an official announcement yet, all signs point to early 2026 for the release of the Galaxy S26.

According to the current rumor consensus:

  • The unveiling will likely occur in January 2026 during Samsung’s customary “Unpacked” event
  • The retail sale and broad availability should follow shortly after, likely in February 2026

There have been whispers about a bold move in a new direction for the S26, as Samsung promises this will be their most advanced phone yet.

To find out which version of Android your device is currently running:

  • Open your Settings app
  • Scroll down to ‘About phone’ (sometimes called System or Device information)
  • Select ‘Software information’
  • Look for ‘Android version’

The exact steps may vary slightly depending on your phone brand (Samsung, Google, Motorola, etc.), but every Android device has this information built in. Newer phones, such as the Galaxy S25 Ultra, come with Android 15 out of the box, while devices like Google’s Pixel 10 may already be running on the new Android 16. Knowing your version helps you understand what features, security patches, and apps your device supports.

To upgrade your phone to Android 16, make sure your device is eligible and has enough storage space available. The latest version of Android is currently only available for Google devices, but is expected to be released for all Android phones by the end of 2025.

If your device is eligible:

  • Connect to Wi-Fi and ensure your phone has at least 50% battery.
  • Go to Settings > System > Software Update.
  • Tap Check for Updates.
  • If Android 16 is available, select Download and Install.

Most of the time, the update to Android 16 will happen automatically when the software is available for your specific device.

One of the most affordable and reliable Android phones on the market is the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G. It delivers great value with a large display, long-lasting battery, and a capable camera system, all at a budget-friendly price point.

For shoppers who want the essentials without overspending, the Galaxy A16 is a top pick among entry-level Android devices.
