'It's been difficult to gain momentum' - Carter-Vickerspublished at 09:25 BST

Cameron Carter-Vickers admits Celtic have struggled to find momentum so far this season before Brendan Rodgers' side travel to Dundee on Sunday.
The Parkhead club are currently unbeaten in the Premiership after seven games but are playing catch-up in second as Hearts occupy the top spot with 19 points from a possible 21.
Celtic have only scored 11 goals domestically this term, which Carter-Vickers says is an area they need to work on.
"Results-wise, domestically, has been pretty good, but there are obviously areas we want to improve upon," the defender said.
"At the moment we're focused more on our attacking play and trying to create more opportunities to score more goals.
"Defensively it's been pretty good. We've conceded in the last two games but until that point we hadn't conceded many at all.
"We've had players in and our of the team but as time has gone one, we've become more cohesive and hopefully that continues.
"It's been difficult to get momentum during the periods in between the international breaks but after the one in November, we have non-stop club football from mid-November to March so that will be a key period of the season."

'We all want what's best for Celtic' - Rodgers fully focused on footballpublished at 16:08 BST 17 October

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers insists his focus on the team "won't be clouded" despite discontent among supporters.
The Celtic Fans Collective announced another protest in an effort to show their discontent with the club's board.
But with the club second in the Premiership table, two points behind Hearts, the manager insists he's fully focused on getting results on the pitch.
"Of course, we want the synergy throughout the whole club," the Northern Irishman said.
"That's what we all want. We all want what's best for Celtic. But, like I said, control what you can, which is the football element, and look to do that on the pitch and on the training pitch every single day. And that's really where my focus is. I try to not get too involved.
"Of course, I'm involved. I love Celtic. I love managing Celtic. I want Celtic to be the very best every single season. So, of course, there's a focus there on the general health of the club.
"But, like I said, it's for me to focus on the performance level of the team, and that won't be clouded at all."
After leaving it late in their 3-2 win over Motherwell before the international break, Celtic return to league action with a trip to Dundee.
"Our record there is very, very good as a club over numbers of years," Rodgers added.
"But this still doesn't make it an easy place to go. I think Steven Pressley will have them really well organised. He'll have them competitive.
"They've shown already this season that they can get good results and performances.
"So, we know coming back after an international game, we need to get our fluency and get our tempo into the game as quickly as we can and look to make it really difficult for them."
Rodgers on Clark links, Johnston return & Martin sackingpublished at 15:14 BST 17 October

Celtic Brendan Rodgers has been speaking to the media as his side prepare for Sunday's trip to face Dundee.
Here are the main points from his news conference:
Rodgers confirms Alistair Johnston has been back in training and is "hopefully good to go" but they'll wait until Saturday before making a final decision.
On the links with former Liverpool midfielder Bobby Clark, Rodgers says he "really doesn't know where that has come from".
The Celtic manager is expecting to face a "really well organised" and "competitive" Dundee side on Sunday.
On the latest fan protest announced by the Celtic fans collective, Rodgers says he wasn't aware of the announcement but is hopeful the supporters and club can "find a balance" and create "harmony" throughout the club.
Rodgers insists he "loves managing Celtic" and "wants what's best for the club" and says he is fully focused on making sure the team put on a good performance on the pitch.
With seven games in 21 days on the horizon for Celtic, the Irishman feels it is "a really exciting spell" and is urging his players to "embrace it".
Daizen Maeda is out with a hamstring injury picked up in the game against Motherwell before the international break and won't be fit for the weekend. Paulo Bernardo is dealing with illness so the club will wait to make a decision on the midfielder.
Rodgers says he's "disappointed" for Russell Martin following his sacking by Rangers and stresses how "relentless" the pressure is when managing one of the Old Firm.
On the potential appointment of Kevin Muscat as Martin's successor, Rodgers admits he doesn't know the Shanghai Port boss too well but believes he's "done a really good job at the teams he's been at in Asia". Says any new manager coming in is another new challenge but one his side will be ready for.

Celtic's "very strong" team spirit has carried them through despite not yet finding their top form, according to manager Brendan Rodgers.
"I just think it's going to be time, but whilst you are waiting for that, you have to win games," he told Celtic TV.
"I think that we've shown glimpses throughout the games but not consistently enough.
"But the team is still winning domestically and that's very, very important. I think that really typified the mentality because that's something that you can't underestimate as well.
"We've played a number of games so far this season already and we've had late winners in those games.
"So that tells you that the spirit is very strong in the team. The push that we get from the support is really galvanising the team. And it is a team that will go to the very end."

Dundee are winless in their last 46 meetings with Celtic in all competitions (D7 L39) since a 2-0 victory in May 2001 under Ivano Bonetti. Indeed, Celtic have only ever had longer unbeaten streaks against two sides in their history: Partick Thistle (50 from Dec 1897 to Apr 1923) and Dumbarton (50 from Oct 1892 to Jan 2007).
Celtic are unbeaten in their last 36 visits to Dundee in all competitions (W28 D8) since a 0-1 defeat in September 1988 under Billy McNeill – it's their longest ever away unbeaten run against any side in their history.
Dundee have lost both of their last two league games by an aggregate score of 5-0, last losing three in a row without scoring in December last season.
Celtic haven't conceded more than one goal in any of their last 10 away games in all competitions (five goals conceded), their longest such run since going 11 without shipping twice from February to September 2022.
Dundee have both had the fewest shots (58) and faced the most shots (115) of any side in the Scottish Premiership this season. Celtic, meanwhile, have fired in the most shots (114) and faced the fewest (41).

Derby County would not want to lose on-loan midfielder Bobby Clark in January, says head coach John Eustace.
Reports in Scotland claim the RB Salzburg loanee is being lined up for a permanent switch to Celtic.
"It's the first I've heard of it - we don't want to lose him because we brought him in to help develop him and give him a platform to perform and he's certainly done that up until now," Eustace told BBC Radio Derby.
"It's great that big clubs like Celtic are looking at him but we certainly don't want him to go there - but January is a long way away and I'm not worried about that so let's keep giving him some important minutes and see how his performances are between now and then."
Clark, 20, came through Liverpool's academy but made just one Premier League start before moving to RB Salzburg in September 2024. He joined Derby in August and Eustace accepts they would be the last to know if any move had been agreed.
"All we can do is keep working with Bobby - any player coming in will see there's a pathway to playing in Europe and moving to possibly bigger clubs but the important thing is Bobby is our player until then at least and we keep working well with him and he keeps performing for us."
Derby return to Championship action at Oxford United on Saturday (12:30 BST).
Johnston return 'major boost' for 'inconsistent' Celticpublished at 16:29 BST 16 October
16:29 BST 16 October
Tino Fan writer
After what's felt like another endless international break, Celtic are finally back in action this weekend, and it can't come soon enough.
The Bhoys return to league duty against Dundee on Sunday, and there's a sense of hope among the support that this could be a big afternoon - not just in terms of three points, but in reigniting the momentum that's been glaringly absent across the season so far.
The break arrived at a strange time. Performances had been inconsistent and the atmosphere around the club uneasy, as we found ourselves in the unfamiliar position of second place in the Scottish Premiership table.
But now, with players refreshed from the break, and with the possibility of a long-awaited return on the horizon, there's cautious optimism that we can soon get back to our best.
That major boost is the potential comeback of Alistair Johnston. The Canadian full-back has been sorely missed, not only for his defensive solidity and for the energy he brings down the right flank, but for the character and personality that he brings to the group.
Having him back ahead of a relentless run of fixtures in the coming weeks could be a massive boost for Brendan Rodgers and the team.
And then there's the intrigue surrounding Celtic's new frontline options. Kelechi Iheanacho, Michel-Ange Balikwisha and Sebastian Tounekti all offer something different, and after weeks of settling in – some quicker than others - fans are eager to see them properly kick on.
Iheanacho's proven finishing could provide the cutting edge we've lacked at times, Balikwisha may have turned a corner after his display against Motherwell, and Tounekti's fast feet and trickery have made him one to watch in recent weeks.
It's early days for all of them of course, but if they can continue to gel then our attack could suddenly start to look a lot more dangerous.
All of this, of course, plays out against a backdrop of ongoing unrest between the club and the supporters' groups.
The disconnect has been steadily growing – inflamed by what's been deemed by many in attendance as an unsatisfactory meeting at Celtic Park last week – with frustration over communication, strategy and recruitment among some of the most pressing matters at this time.
As a result, the banners and the boycotts look set to continue in some way, shape or form – and information on that should become clearer in the coming days - as many push on in their desire for notable change at the club.
Still, come Sunday at Dens Park – for 90 minutes at least - we can focus on the football and on the hope that this new look side under Rodgers can finally click into gear. With a run of seven games in just 21 days lying in wait, there's no better time to get back on track.
Is Scales Celtic's best central defender?published at 13:43 BST 16 October

Since joining from Shamrock Rovers in 2021, Liam Scales has made 110 appearances for Celtic across all competitions and has firmly cemented himself as a mainstay in Brendan Rodgers' starting XI.
The Irish defender has started all seven of the Parkhead club's league games this season, while centre-back partner Cameron Carter-Vickers has started six.
Dane Murray has started once in the top flight, Auston Trusty has been missing through injury since a couple of early appearances as a substitute and Jahmai Simpson-Pusey has not featured at all since joining on loan from Manchester City.
We've taken a look at the stats behind Scales' start to the season to see if Rodgers is justified in his loyalty to the centre-back.
Defensively, Carter-Vickers and Scales measure up on almost all metrics but there are a few key areas where the latter has excelled.
In terms of tackles, both Carter-Vickers and Scales have made six so far while the American international has won five to his team-mates' four. However, the pair are joint for interceptions (10) while Scales has made more clearances (45 to 33), headed clearances (29 to 21), all while having faced six more shots than his counterpart.
Scales has won 43 duels while Carter-Vickers has won 33, giving them a duel success rate of 64.2% and 56.9% respectively. In terms of aerial duels, Scales has won 31 from 48 while his team-mate has won 22 of 36.
While the moans and groans from Celtic Park can be heard across the country every time one or other of the defenders passes back to goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, Scales has been putting in the work going forward.
Scales has made 242 forward passes in his seven games compared to Carter-Vickers' 192.
Looking at successful passes into the final third, Scales' 88 vastly outnumbers Carter-Vickers' 54. The Irishman has also made 15 passes into the opposition penalty box compared to Carter-Vickers' one.
Scales has created five chances and three big chances while his regular centre-back partner has created one of each.
Going by the numbers alone, it seems Rodgers has found his star centre-back.
'Our roles have reversed' - Schmeichel enjoying football life through his sonpublished at 11:38 BST 15 October

Former Denmark and Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel admits he has enjoyed the role reversal between him and his Celtic shot-stopping son Kasper.
Schmeichel Jnr joined Celtic in summer 2024 after spells at Nice and Anderlecht, where he won a domestic double, lifting the Scottish League Cup in December 2024 and the Scottish Premiership in April 2025.
The 38-year-old had previously made 479 appearances for Leicester City over 11 years, during the most successful era in the club's history winning the Championship, Premier League and FA Cup.
While 61-year-old Schmeichel Snr had his own successful career - five Premier League titles, three FA Cups, a League Cup and a Champions League to name but some - he says he has been able to enjoy his son's achievements more than his own.
"Once you're in it, you're just in it and you don't feel a lot because you always have to move on to the next part," he told the BBC's Sacked in the Morning podcast.
"There's always a game three days away so you never get time to think about what you've just done.
"You end up winning a championship and then you go back to Denmark, where you'd have international qualifiers for the European Championships or World Cup.
"There's never really any time to enjoy what you've done.
"My son is now doing all the hard work and all I have to do is watch. You get time to really enjoy that."
Kasper Schmeichel followed in his father's footsteps on 2 May 2016 when he won the Premier League title at 29 years old - the same age and on the same calendar day as when his father won Manchester United's first in the Premier League era in 1993.
"When he was on that pitch at Leicester, when they got the Premier League trophy presented to them, that was, as a father, an absolutely incredible moment," said Scheichel Snr.
"They won in exactly the same way that we won the first Premier League with Manchester United - by not playing.
"It was the same round, there were so many similarities, all coincidences.
"I've lifted the trophy and he has been photographed with it so many times, and all of a sudden, our roles are reversed."

Celtic were awarded a penalty at Rugby Park after the ball was deemed to have hit Lewis Mayo's hand
Scottish football's head of referees says that the type of penalty that earned Celtic a last-gasp Scottish Premiership win away to Kilmarnock last month should not be given in future.
Kilmarnock defender Lewis Mayo was penalised for handball by referee John Beaton after a VAR review before Kelechi Iheanacho scored from the spot to secure a 2-1 stoppage-time victory.
The ball struck Mayo after a shot had deflected off team-mate Robbie Deas.
Scottish FA head of referees Willie Collum told the VAR Review Show: "The arm is definitely up, it's unnatural.
"If the shot goes direct here and hits Lewis Mayo in that position and there's no deflection, it's 100% a penalty kick.
"Even in this situation with the deflection, in law you can justify a penalty because of the body shape.
"The law doesn't talk about deflection or close proximity. This is guidance rather than law, which talks about unnatural position.
"However, it's about stakeholders' views and pretty much nobody accepted this as a penalty.
"We've had good discussions with the KMI (key match incident) panel, with clubs and also players and the feeling is this should not be punished going forward.
"So we want to recalibrate in terms of this decision. That, if it's such close proximity and it's deflected, even if the arm's in this position, then we don't punish it.
"But there's a slight caveat to that and that is two key words - impact, consequence. If we put this in the goal-line and the ball's going into the net then it changes everything altogether."
Collum agreed with decisions over other contentious handball incidents in September, saying Deas should not have been punished against St Mirren because his arm was in a natural position.

Michel-Ange Balikwisha believes he is ready to show his full potential after settling into life with Celtic and adapting to the demands of Brendan Rodgers' side.
The 24-year-old winger has two assists already to his name in six appearances for Celtic since signing from Royal Antwerp in August.
His second, setting up Daizen Maeda's late winner against Motherwell at Celtic Park, gave the former U21 Belgium international confidence as he looks to make his mark in the coming weeks.
"After a good week of training with a positive mindset and confidence, when the gaffer called me on the touchline, I was desperate to come on and help the team to win the game," Balikwisha told club media.
"Arne Engels found me in the space and I crossed it left foot for Daizen, who finished it well.
"It was an incredible feeling with the noise of the fans and, for me, it was as if I had scored.
"I am training hard every day. The sessions are more intense here than where I came from, so I had to adapt.
"Now everything is fine and I hope it continues every day to help the team.
"As the gaffer said, it was not easy at the beginning as I was staying in the hotel, but today everything is sorted and it is time for me to show what I am capable of."
