Dr. Tayi designed a comprehensive mathematical model for retrovirus-mediated gene transfer into mammalian cells. He experimentally investigated the kinetic steps and validated the mathematical model. He subsequently used the model to optimize the experimental system for centrifugation-based delivery of retroviral vectors into mammalian cells.
