Marlborough voters: I debate with myself whether to be timid or forceful in writing this letter. I decided I must be honest.
This election, we find ourselves at a crucial time. We are surrounded with media articles of corruption, poor governance, and questionable decisions on the part of our representatives, even locally. Personally, I don’t want to believe them. I feel shame as I read them or hear them.
Voters are either angry or apathetic, or motivated and energized. Possibly, many feel powerless.
I am not sure where you stand, but, Marlborough voters, you do have power. You have your vote. And, you have new choices to represent us.
The two county Legislative candidates, Laura Donovan and Dominick Marino, have already demonstrated how hard they will work to win their seats and work for us. We deserve new voices who will speak for us at the county level and oversee county budgeting and services to make sure we get our fair share.
For the Town Board, Dan Heavens and Don Smerdon want to bring their management skills and apply their administrative talents to town government to serve us here in Marlborough.
Honesty, integrity, dedication to family, and family values are the common attributes of these candidates. Use your power — your vote — to give them a chance to prove their credentials. Share your power — your vote for them — and allow them to plan and provide for progress for our town.
