Judson B. Hornbeck SR. OBITUARY

Juddy Judson B. (Juddy) Hornbeck Sr., 83 of Kingston, NY, passed away following a long battle with cancer on October 6, 2025. He passed away at home in the presence of his loving children and under the care of Hudson Valley Hospice. He was born July 23, 1942 in Kingston, NY and was the son of the late John F. and Lorriane (Googy) Corcoran. Juddy was raised on the Kingston Rondout Waterfront and graduated from Kingston High School in 1959. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy as an aviation machinist mate. After schooling, he was deployed to Cecil Field FL and assigned to FASRON-9 (Fleet Aircraft Service Squadron). After two years, he was deployed to Guantánamo Cuba before, during, and after the Russian Missile Crisis. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home. He immediately went to work at the Hutton Brick Yard and Hudson Cement until 1967 when he was hired by the City of Kingston as a professional firefighter until he retired after 30 years and became a member of local 461. Following retirement, he worked for the City of Kingston as Assistant Dock Master at city docks. He also worked in park maintenance at Gallo Park until final retirement. He was a life member Joyce Shirick Post 1386 Kingston. Judson is survived by his sister Karen (Kenny) Neves of North Carolina. His children, Jay (Chelsey) Hornbeck, Jr. of Delaware, Gina Hornbeck of Port Ewen, Jon (Denise) Hornbeck of Lake Katrine, and Gail Hornbeck of Florida. His grandchildren Brett (Allison) Rosengrant, Brandan Rosengrant, Dominique (Nicole) Stokes, Tahj Buford, Mia Buford, Julianna Hornbeck, Gabrielle Hornbeck, Joshua Hornbeck and six great-grandchildren. Juddy’s last words: Thank you to all my family and friends for your love and support while on my journey home. Love, Juddy. Funeral and cremation arrangements are under the guidance of the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc. 27 Smith Avenue Kingston www.jvleahyfh.com Family and friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. Joyce Schirick Post 1386 and American Legion Post 150 will conduct a ritual at 5:30 PM. A funeral home service will take place Monday at 11:00 AM. A funeral procession will form following the service and proceed to Wiltwyck Community Mausoleum for final commendation and Military Honors.
