June J. Overbaugh, a dedicated service member within her own community, passed away peacefully at her lifetime Lighthouse Dr. residence, on October 5, 2025. She was born on March 30, 1933, in Kingston, NY, to the late Willet and Millie Herrick Overbaugh. June’s professional journey spanned 32 years at IBM, where she dedicated 28 years to Personnel Administration. Her religious commitment to the Reformed Church of Saugerties, was a leading role in her life. She was an Elder and choir member for approximately 60 years, uplifting spirits and strengthening the bonds of her faith community. Her civic engagement was profound and multifaceted. June served as the Chairperson of the Village of Saugerties Waterfront and Advisory Board. Her dedication to planning and development was further evident through her service on the Village of Saugerties Planning Board and the Police Advisory Board. June’s commitment to knowledge and history was reflected in her role on the Saugerties Public Library Board of Directors, the Daughters of American Revolution (DAR), the Ulster County Shields.. Her passion for service extended to the economic development of her community as well, with 15 years on the Board of Directors of Gateway Industries. June also played a significant role in the preservation of local heritage as a member of the Saugerties Lighthouse Conservancy Board of Directors, ensuring the lighthouse’s legacy for future generations. June’s love for the Hudson River and boating was more than a hobby; it was a passion and a lifestyle that she lived, conveniently right out her front door. She was known for her spirited approach of reminding boaters of the no wake zone, sometimes with a whistle in hand, ensuring the safety and tranquility of her beloved waterfront. The countless arrowheads she found and collected, the many boats she had over the years, docks in and docks out all will be strong memories of her for all those that she knew. June J. Overbaugh’s life was filled with unwavering commitment to her community and the causes she held dear. Her analytical mind, passionate heart, and spirited presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her and working alongside her. Her impact on Saugerties and its residents will be felt for many years to come. Her Funeral Service will be held 10 am Thursday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Cemetery. Friends will be received on Wednesday 2-4 PM. A small prayer service and song will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours at 4:00 PM.
