James N. Barber OBITUARY

James N. Barber (Poppy Jim), 90, of Dave Elliott Rd., died Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at the Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home. Born September 27, 1934 in Cementon, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary Matutinvich Barber. A Veteran of the US Marine Corps, he served during the Korean War. A lifelong area resident, he was employed at Hudson Cement and later at Northeast Solite. He was a member of the Operating Engineers and Ironworkers Locals and the Cementon Sportsman’s Club. He enjoyed spending his time at Stewart’s on Main St. having coffee, shooting the breeze with friends and playing the lottery. Predeceased by his wife, Leona (2004) and a son, George (2016), survivors include son’s Paul (Barbara) Barber of Chattaroy, WA) and David (Tina) Barber of Saugerties, daughter, Mara Barber(Krissy Warren) of Boiceville and daughter in law Jill Barber of Kingston. Four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his sister, Eva Goff and brothers: George, Anthony, Michael, John, Joseph, Peter, Andrew, and Phillip. His Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Burial with military honors will follow in the Blue Mt.
