Scott Joseph Cluka OBITUARY

Scott Joseph Cluka, born February 29th, 1964, a former NASCAR pit crew member and Master Dive Instructor, passed away at home on October 3, 2025. He was 61 years old. He was known for his fierce loyalty and his ability to make friends wherever he went. Scott’s enthusiasm for adventure and his love of his friends were evident in every area of his life. During the 1980s and 1990s, Scott was an integral part of several of NASCAR’s most successful Winston Cup teams, including Dale Earnhardt, Rusty Wallace, Darrell Waltrip, and Kyle Petty. As a member of the Goodwrench #3 ‘Flying Aces’, he claimed the title of The World’s Fastest Pit Crew during the 1988 UNOCAL Pit Crew Challenge at North Carolina Motor Speedway, the record still stands to this day. After a long and illustrious career, Scott retired from racing and chose to live a quieter life out of the spotlight and pursue his passion for diving. While living on St. John, USVI, where he was a Master Dive Instructor, Scott met the love of his life, Lisa Crumrine. They shared a rare love for each other and took many journeys together. One of those journeys led them back home. In 2006, Scott and Lisa moved to Woodstock, New York, where Scott became Lisa’s primary caretaker when she fell ill. As with everything he did, Scott jumped into caring for Lisa with integrity, passion and grace. They remained together until Lisa’s death in January. In Woodstock, Scott’s love of music and interest in talented musicians steered him toward assisting and promoting local artist in the Hudson Valley. Whether it was lighting, sound or stage he believed in the Woodstock history of music culture and was inspired. Scott is survived by his mother, Suzy Cluka, and his sister, Kathy Cluka-Huffman, her Husband, Troy, Niece, Samantha Flannery, and her Husband, Taylor, Great Niece, Hazel Flannery, and Nephew, Matthew Nowak. Scott is preceded in death by his Dad, Edward Andrew Cluka, and his Brother, Michael Edward Cluka.
