Welcome to the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at the University of Hong Kong!
Established in 1960, our department has a proud tradition of excellence in education, research, and innovation. We offer three undergraduate programmes—Computer Engineering (CE), Electronic Engineering (ElecE), and Electrical Engineering (EE)—which provide our students with a solid foundation and prepare them for leadership in a rapidly evolving technological world.
Our department is home to over 60 faculty members, over 430 undergraduate students, 700 MSc students, and 350 research postgraduate students pursuing MPhil and PhD degrees. Our faculty members are engaged in cutting-edge research across a broad range of fields, including neuromorphic computing, power electronics, photonics, 6G communications, biomedical engineering (BME), and computer vision.
We take great pride in our global recognition. In the QS Subject Ranking 2025, we are ranked 38th in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and 21st in Computer Science and Information Systems. Our faculty achievements include 4 Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers (2024), 2 members of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering, 1 Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, 19 Fellows of the IEEE, and 6 top 1% researchers by Clarivate (2025).
