Training phase
At the beginning of the program, each doctoral researcher who successfully completed the regular IMPRS application procedure, starts with a six-month training phase (as ageneral rule) in research groups within the IMPRS. The aim of the training phase is to familiarize newly recruited candidates with the IMPRS and vice versa. In addition, important methods and techniques can be learned for better performance in the upcoming doctoral project.
Ideally, lab visits are taken right at the start of the doctoral project and should be done in the participating or cooperating institutions. The location is chosen together with the supervisor so that the interests and skills of the student are complemented.
