"Ten Years, Zero Issues"
What do you like best about GoodSync?

I’ve been using GoodSync for over a decade, and it has never let me down. The software does exactly what it promises every single time. From updating and backing up local drives to handling online backups, it works seamlessly. One of the things I value most is its ability to run flawlessly across multiple systems—no hiccups, no missed files, no stress.

If you’re looking for reliable, worry-free backup and synchronization, GoodSync is the gold standard. After ten years of daily use, I can confidently say it’s one of the most dependable tools I’ve ever invested in. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GoodSync?

I don’t have anything negative to say about the features we use and I don’t use the other features so cannot speak to any dislikes I may have. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Works Extremely Well"
What do you like best about GoodSync?

It does what they say it does. Even though the interface is a bit cryptic, I had it installed, running and syncing six volumes, many terabytes of data to near-line storage on the company LAN in under an hour.

The product only needed to be installed on one server to replicate to another server. In my case in only one direction, but bi-directional support is included in the product, with many available options.

I had started by using FastCopy to seed the target server with up-to-date data before installing GoodSync, so GoodSync had very little to do upon startup. This worked out very well for me.

For my installation, when a file/folder is changed/added/moved/deleted on the source server, i have set GoodSync to sense this and replicate the action on the target in typically a few seconds to a few minutes (worst case, usually much less, after a pre-set 20-second delay).

I keep the GoodSync GUI open and visible on the source server, so I can see any issues when I spot-check. But there are also email notifications that can be implemented.

GoodSync also uses VSS, so open/locked files are copied.

One competitor, in their comparison matrix, says that GoodSync does not archive deleted/changed files. This is NOT the case. It can be set to do this, and these files are saved to a separate folder on the target. There are several options related to this feature regarding length of time to keep these files etc.

After a few weeks of use, I have already updated GoodSync at least three times when prompted on the GUI. This is wonderfully automatic. A few clicks, and GoodSync downloads the update, stops the services, restarts and continues syncing as before. Totally painless. Doing a web search for "GoodSync changelog" instantly brings up recent changes and additions to the product.

I need to add here that I wasn't experiencing any issues before these updates happened, so it's great to see that the company is proactive in improving the product and adding features.

I am pleased to say that I came here to report all of this because of how pleased I am with the product, and have not received anything for doing so besides some peace of mind. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GoodSync?

For the inexperienced user in products such as these, there will be a longer learning curve.

And license renewals appear to be at the same price, which is OK but not great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
