Mecha Choice is a luck-based Free-for-All minigame featured in Mario Party 9. This minigame's gameplay is similar to that of Risky Railway from Wii Party, a minigame from another game created by NDcube.
Overview[edit]
The minigame begins with the four players, chased by Mechakoopas, running frantically out of a narrow passage into a larger hall with three doors.
The players are prompted to press ,
, or
to pick choose one of the three doors, within a time limit of 3 seconds. Players are allowed to change their selection as many times as they want until the time limit expires, after which the players will enter their selected door to escape the approaching Mechakoopas. For each set of three doors, one is a dead end with more Mechakoopas, and any players who choose that door (or who do not choose any door before time is up) are eliminated. The other two doors will lead to an identical hallway with another set of three doors, repeating the process.
If only one player is left before five rounds are completed, they are declared the winner, striking a victory pose in the middle of the hall. No matter how many players are left, the minigame will end after five rounds, where the two correct corridors will lead to a hall with a single door. If one or more players make it through all five rounds without picking any dead ends, they will all be declared winners. A single door in the back of the room will open, which the remaining players enter after striking their poses.
Ties will occur only if either all remaining players are eliminated at the same dead end, or if more than one player makes it successfully through five rounds. Players who do not choose a door within the time limit automatically get a lower ranking than the players who enter a dead end. If all the players pick a dead end, they will all get first place; conversely, if none of them pick a door, they will all get last place.
