**Dear friends,**
If you have plans to travel somewhere in the world, and you are looking for a travel mate/roommate, you can post it here to let others know, and maybe you can arrange to travel together.
It would probably be a good idea to meet up before deciding to travel together but at least this will give you a chance to find a like-minded travel mate.
**How to Choose the Right Travel-mate**
1. Have some common interests.
2. Avoid people who tend to extremes.
3. Agree on expenditures before you leave.
4. Make sure your personalities
5. Friends aren’t always good travel companions
6. Don’t go backpacking with a luxury-seeker
7. Make sure you’re able to communicate
8. Agree on a similar budget
9. Avoid picky, crazy and whiny individuals
10. Test each other on a short trip
11. You don’t have to be like a couple of inseparable lovebirds

**Just Gutsy** is a global community for solo travelers who are free spirited, love exploring the world believe that real connections make the best memories.
Hi, I am Syrine,
I started solo traveling in 2018 and it changed my life, from introvert to extrovert. Along the way, I loved meeting people, but also felt how hard it can be to find connection when traveling alone.
I’m building Just Gutsy so no one has to feel alone on the road — and so anyone who’s still shy to take that first step has a welcoming place to start. 💛

London Social Hiking is off to discover the Isle of Portland, the southernmost point of the Jurassic Coast UNESCO World Heritage Site and the venue for sailing events during the 2012 Olympics!
The Isle of Portland is 6 kilometres long by 3 kilometres wide and is connected to the mainland by the breath-taking sweep of the shingle ridge of Chesil Beach. On this walk, we'll explore dramatic, rugged limestone cliffs and hidden coves, and enjoy stunning coastal views and landscapes shaped by centuries of military activity, farming, fishing and quarrying. Did you know that the world-famous Portland stone has been quarried here since Roman times, and many famous buildings – including St Paul's Cathedral, the British Museum, Tower Bridge and the United Nations headquarters in New York – were built using it?
The hike will finish at the fishing village of Chiswell, where we'll enjoy well-deserved drinks and refreshments next to Chesil Beach – one of the best sunset locations in Dorset. Don’t miss this unique opportunity – it’s the only time of year we can experience the sunset on this route, with sunset at 17:00! 🌅
**HIKE HIGHLIGHTS**
* Breath-taking clifftop views along Chesil Beach and the Fleet Lagoon
* Small secluded beach at Church Ope Cove
* Pulpit Rock and Portland Bill Lighthouse
* Dramatic views to the cliffs of Purbeck and Portland Harbour
* The “Spirit of Portland” sculpture which depicts a fisherman and a quarryman to represent the two main industries of the Isle

🥾 **Hike Description**
This is Outdooraholics’ most popular hike, a dramatic and exhilarating journey across the chalk cliffs of Sussex that we have been leading for over 12 years. The **Seven Sisters** are a spectacular series of gleaming white chalk cliffs formed at the end of the last Ice Age by glacial meltwater. Erosion has since created an “eighth sister,” and today the cliffs stand as one of England’s most iconic landscapes.
We begin in the coastal town of **Seaford**, home to a Napoleonic-era **Martello Tower** built in 1810 as part of a chain of 103 coastal defences against French invasion. From here, the trail climbs onto the cliff tops, where for much of the day we walk high above the sea, treated to endless coastal views and fresh sea air.
Our route follows the **South Downs Way**, passing through **Birling Gap** and past the striking **Belle Tout Lighthouse**, famously moved 17 metres inland in 1999 to save it from falling into the sea. The final highlight is **Beachy Head**, a dramatic beauty spot with sheer chalk cliffs dropping into the sea below.
We finish in **Eastbourne**, statistically England’s sunniest town, where we celebrate our coastal adventure with refreshments in a local pub.

**Cliffs – danger**
There are sheer drops off the cliffs and some of these soft chalk cliffs are crumbling at the edges with chunks regularly falling and no fencing in place. Please keep at least 3 metres away from the edges. If you fall, or the ground at the edge of the cliff collapses it will almost certainly be fatal.

Come and join us on a trip to one of the UK's most famous beauty spots! At 400ft (122m) deep and three miles (4.8km) long, Cheddar Gorge is England's largest gorge, boasting subterranean caverns with impressive displays of stalactites and stalagmites. Britain's oldest complete human skeleton, known as Cheddar Man, was found here, as was some extremely rare Ice Age art.
Cheddar is also the birthplace of the world-famous Cheddar cheese. We're going to visit the Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company – a family-owned, independent small artisan cheesemaker, that makes the only authentic Cheddar cheese in the world! Cheese is produced by hand, using traditional methods, such as using raw milk, traditional animal rennet, and a cloth wrapping. Of course, no visit would be complete without tasting the renowned authentic Cheddar cheese and purchasing some gifts for your friends and loved ones!
**TRIP HIGHLIGHTS**
* Enjoy a cliff-top walk around the famous Cheddar Gorge, with its weathered crags and pinnacles. There will be some rocky paths and stiff climbs, but all of your efforts will be well rewarded by the jaw-dropping beauty around you!

JANUARY 28 - FEBRUARY 1 – NORTHERN LIGHTS, SWEDISH LAPLAND
**Do you dream of seeing the northern lights? Join Backabush to hunt for the aurora borealis in Arctic Sweden!**
Cost - £599. Nights - 4. Accommodation - comfortable en-suite twin share rooms (please enquire about single supplement option)
The magical dance of the northern lights is a spectacular sight and a true bucket list experience. Over the next year aurora borealis activity should continue to be at its highest levels in over a decade as we are in a solar maximum, so now is the time to go and see this unique spectacle!
Abisko National Park in [Swedish Lapland](https://www.swedishlapland.com/northern-lights/) is located about 150 miles north of the Arctic Circle and is a [dream destination for aurora seekers](https://www.swedishtouristassociation.com/northern-lights/) as it offers some of the best conditions in the world for northern lights watching. The unique climate of the area keeps the skies almost always clear, and light pollution is minimal.
Our plan is to walk to the best nearby viewing areas each night to hunt for the aurora borealis, for example at the shore of the fantastic lake Torneträsk. There is also the option to book a night visit to the [Aurora Sky Station](https://auroraskystation.se/en/welcome-to-aurora-sky-station/) on one of the evenings, taking the chairlift up to its amazing viewing platform at 900m above sea level.
During the day we will have the opportunity to explore more of the national park, hiking to nearby lakes and waterfalls (weather and snow conditions permitting). There are many other exciting winter activities available to book including snowshoeing, ice climbing, dog sledding, cross-country skiing, ice fishing and snowmobile tours.
Come and join us on an amazing arctic adventure to the world's best place for the aurora borealis!

🦭 Hike to Atlantic Grey Seals – Britain's Wildlife Safari
#################
**Explore Britain’s most stunning trails in a small group of up to 15, travelling together by private minibus to beautiful, remote locations not easily reached by public transport.**
**We’ve created a list of [FAQs](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1e4VGmwhurmCng2cY3ZJHOS4j9ZlWKaX1/view?usp=sharing) to help answer your questions.**
#################
We’re off to Norfolk! The seals in Norfolk are truly one of Britain's most special sights. Without any doubt, they're an incredible WOW factor and one that you must see!
On this day hike, we'll walk along the top of the sand dunes and enjoy stunning panoramic views across the North Sea. On our way, we'll pass the much-loved grey seal colony at Horsey Beach, which draws thousands of visitors each year, **particularly between November and March**, when the seals come ashore to breed. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of seals and their pups stretching for as far as the eye can see!
The whole walk is in the Broads National Park – one of fifteen national parks in the UK. You'll discover its iconic windmills, navigable waterways and broads (man-made, shallow lakes). With over 125 miles of lock-free waterways, the Norfolk Broads have more miles of waterway than Venice or Amsterdam, and are an extremely popular boating holiday destination! Locals like to call the Broads “the Venice of the East”.
💪 This walk is **suitable for all abilities** – it is almost entirely flat and done at a very gentle pace to allow us enjoy the nature and take plenty of pictures.
**HIKE HIGHLIGHTS**
* Watch seals and their young from a close distance at Horsey Gap, home to one of the biggest colonies of grey seals in Britain.
* Take a gentle stroll over the vast open expanse of the golden sand dunes of Winterton Beach – a Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest. The area is a veritable haven for birds and all kinds of wildlife and is widely regarded as having the best sand dunes in Norfolk.
* See the spectacular Horsey Windpump – the youngest and largest windpump in the Norfolk Broads. It was built in 1912 to pump water out from the surrounding land so that it could be used for farming.
* Discover Horsey Mere, often regarded as one of the most beautiful of the northern broads and famous for its internationally important wildlife.
* Walk the newly opened stretch of the England Coast Path – a new National Trail around all of England's coast, which once completed will be the longest coastal walking route in the world (4,500 kilometres in length!).

Holmes & the Secrets of the City – Valentine's Day Late Afternoon Walk & Drinks
Walk length 2 miles/3 km approx. Linear.
A really varied urban walk exploring some of London's hidden secrets from scandals to old burial grounds and the location of one of the world's most famous fictional detective characters. A guided walk, pointing out these and other historical sights.
This walk is appropriate for Valentine’s Day as one of the squares we visit has a curious story of a strange enchantment that can only be broken by true love…
We will visit a wonderful grandiose pub at the end with many original features. It was used as offices for the Metropolitan Railway the world’s first underground line that still runs through Baker Street Station.
The walk is FREE, the host is a qualified London guide.
Please keep your 'RSVP' updated for this event as it would help me get accurate numbers, and determine who is turning up for the walk; my phone number is Colin 07709 305681.
The walk starts from Bond Street underground and will finish near Baker Street Underground. Meet close to the Davies Street entrance to Bond Street station next to the King of Trainers (see photo above) from 3.45pm for the walk to start at 4pm. See Transport for London (http://www.tfl.gov.uk/)
We will go for optional drinks after the walk at the Metropolitan Bar, 7 Station Approach, Marylebone Road, Marylebone, London, NW1 5LA.
Walking Safety
Walking is a great way to keep fit and generally very safe; however it does contain an element of risk. Before going on any of these walks you need to be reasonably fit and be prepared to be responsible for your own safety. London Travel Now - London Chapter - Travel For Free*
## 🌍 **London Travel Now — London Chapter**
Welcome to the London Chapter of **London Travel Now** 👋
This is a relaxed, community-powered travel meetup for people who enjoy exploring, planning trips, sharing tips, and meeting fellow travelers.
London Travel Now is a multi-city travel community. Alongside in-person meetups, we also have our own community platform at:
👉 **[londontravelnow.com](londontravelnow.com)**
where members can connect, plan trips together, and stay in touch between meetups.
***
## ✈️ Travel for Free\* (yes, really)
We often get asked how this works, so here’s the simple version:
*Trip organizers travel free on the trips they create and run.*\*
If you:
* plan the trip
* handle the bookings
* and bring the group together
your spot on the trip is covered.
\* *Free applies to the trip organizer once the trip reaches minimum participants and is confirmed. Contributors pay their own share.*
You don’t need to be a travel agent — just organized, reliable, and excited about the trip.
***
## ☕ Where we meet
We keep things simple and accessible — easy, central cafés, pubs, or casual venues around London.
There’s no formal agenda and no presentations.
Just show up, grab a drink, and chat.
(Exact venue details will always be listed on the event page.)
***
## 🧭 How this meetup works (important)
This chapter is part of a **community-led network**.
* Meetups are community-powered and self-organized
* The main London Travel Now organizer may not attend every event
* Attendees are responsible for their own food, drinks, and arrangements
* There may or may not be a designated local host at each meetup
Think of this as a **casual, drop-in social meetup**, not a guided or hosted event.
If you’re comfortable introducing yourself, joining conversations, and helping things run smoothly, you’ll fit right in.
***
## 💬 WhatsApp group (recommended)
We also have a shared **London Travel Now WhatsApp community**, which includes spaces for different cities.
👉 Join here:
[https://chat.whatsapp.com/GjmFuzbk0baFavZRN0JGTz](https://chat.whatsapp.com/GjmFuzbk0baFavZRN0JGTz)
A London space is available inside the group so members can:
* Coordinate meetups
* Ask questions
* Share travel ideas and plans
* Stay connected between events
Participation is optional, but it’s the easiest way to stay in the loop.
***
## 🗓️ What to expect
* Friendly, informal travel conversations
* Trip ideas, tips, and shared experiences
* Meet people you may want to travel with in the future
* A low-pressure, welcoming environment
This is a **community meetup** — not a tour, class, or sales event.
***
## 🙌 We’re looking for Chapter Organizers
As London Travel Now grows, we’re looking for local **Chapter Organizers** — including here in London.
Chapter Organizers help:
* Host or co-host meetups (weekly or monthly)
* Choose simple, accessible venues
* Welcome attendees and help spark conversation
* Create and organize trips for the community
*Trip organizers travel free on the trips they run.*\*
No prior experience required — just reliability and a friendly attitude.
👉 Interested in becoming a Chapter Organizer?
Apply or learn more here:
**[www.londontravelnow.com/apply](londontravelnow.com/apply)**

## ✨ Come along
New faces are always welcome.
Bring curiosity, a travel story, or just yourself.
This community works best when members help make it welcoming — we hope you’ll be part of it.
