More than 60 members and spouses representing six chapters of the New York State Council of Chapters of the Military Officers Association of America recently met in Saratoga Springs for their annual convention. Among the honored guests were state Sen. Jacob Ashby and MOAA President and Chief Executive Lt. Gen. Brian "BK" Kelly, USAF (Ret). During the multi-day event, members from across New York received real-time updates from local organizations and MOAA leadership about legislative activity, ongoing and projected membership projects, as well as chapter activities and projects impacting members at the local level. What better way to learn how to frame a building and construct walls than to construct walls in your own new school? That’s exactly what Building Trades students in Michael Hebert’s class recently did, building stalls for their counterparts in the Electrical Trades program. Once completed, the three-walled stalls allowed the Electrical Trades students to wire outlets, lights and plugs in various areas of the walls. Each student worked with their own stall. Offered at the Extension Center, as well as the Schoharie and Albany campuses, the Building Trades program is training approximately 90 students from more than a dozen school districts this year.
