Alan Hansen is a Scottish former footballer and pundit widely regarded as one of Liverpool’s greatest ever defenders. Born in Sauchie, Clackmannshire, in 1955, he started his career at Partick Thistle before joining Liverpool in 1977. During his 14-year spell at Anfield he won numerous major trophies, including eight league titles and three European Cups, earning praise for his graceful and composed style of play. After retiring, he forged a successful career in media, most notably as the main pundit of BBC’s Match of the Day for 22 years.
