Roy Keane, born in Cork, Northern Ireland in 1971, is a retired professional football player, a former manager and a pundit. Keane had a successful career as a midfielder at club level with Manchester United and nationally for the Republic of Ireland, both of which he captained. With Denis Irwin and Ronnie Whelan, he is the joint most successful Irish footballer of all time. Known for his competitiveness and tactical aggression, Keane took his knowledge of the sport into his management career at Sunderland and Ipswich Town. He is now a popular football commentator and media personality for Sky Sports and ITV.
