After adding a try/except statement in the on_running function, the buttons worked as expected, but I got the same error message in the terminal. With the help of chatgpt/Claude, I learned that the result of the getTask() function was returning Null, and so the .get wasn't able to access any of the properties it was looking for. I added a couple more edge cases for the if statement to wait for. The buttons and app seem to be working ok now without the continuous error messages due to my try/except addition.
