Ooguro Mikiko decided to become an animator after seeing the anime Louis Monde III (a thinly-veiled reference to Lupin III) while in high school. She attended the Greater Tokyo Animation Academy and joined Studio Petit on graduation. Thrust into the producer's role on Oppama's departure, she was initially at a complete loss, with no idea as to what to do. Gradually, with the help of Shihonmatsu and the others, she got the team to work around her and achieve the seemingly impossible. Oppama nicknamed here Kuromi-chan (from Oo-GURO MI-kiko) and the name just stuck.
