I asked a long term perstering buddy to recommend something
"Wholesome"
"Funny"
"Not School Life Based"
After about 20 minutes of back and forth, he recommended Wakoko-zake. This is part of why I try and remain on good terms with the man.
Wakoko-zake is a tiny, straightforwward, edifying affair that allows the casual viewer to be exposed to the genuine enthusiasm that the author(s) have for Japanese cuisine. That the author(s) in question can tell a pleasant story with cute and humorous details is a valuable bonus.
It's carried out by an entirely competent art staff, who have quite possibly created the Ur-Example for "food hentai". Beyond that, without going too far into the forge stamped digital art aesthetic, the graphics have plenty to recommend them.
Judging on sound is a bit counter productive as there's exactly one consistent voice actress (who has some lovely gentle lilts) and little to no sound beyond the OP. Said OP is 'adequate' but doesn't quite capture the spirit of the series.
Do not for the love of all that's well digested watch this on an empty stomach, as you're likely to be dissappointed by what you have to hand. If you're looking for a pleasant diversion which can broaden your horizons a little, this is a good investment of 10~ minutes.
