The Dirty Pair's latest case sends them to the mining colony on planet Ookbar in search of a missing telepathic girl. The less-than-helpful chief of security, Samara, has them arrested and escorted off-planet before they can even start their investigation. Undeterred, Kei and Yuri follow the only lead they have: Missinie was probably brought to the rain forest of Nolandia, the only other place on the planet that is habitable. But their ship was sabotaged, forcing the Dirty Pair to crash land in the anomalous jungle... and this is only the beginning of their problems solving this mind-bending case.

Although it contains most of the Dirty Pair formula, the more serious tone I feel detracts from the fun of the original. I recommend this if you are a fan of the franchise and want to see a different Dirty Pair - if you are an interested newcomer I think it's best to see the original TV and OVA series first.

The Dirty Pair are always fun to watch no matter what they do. It may be a bit dated and this particular instalment has the prerequisite espers in it, but as soon as Kei and Yuri start wreaking havoc on the unsuspecting citizens the show becomes incredibly fun in a light summer action movie way. Recommended for lazy summer afternoon viewing.
