Barely watchable. In the last few episodes the story plunges in quality and becomes riddled with incredible amount of lazy and cheap plot devices aiming to force a tear from you.
After watching this trash, I have come to conclusions:
1. Even among typical anime MCs, Youta made to be especially dumb. Incapable of learning and repeats his mistakes over and over, and over, and over again. Sadly, Truck-kun didn't do a decent job this time.
2. For a girl with a suicide wish, Odin is too much hooked on life. She could have forced humanity to accept her or negotiated a compromise. She should have at least tried. Alas, author decided to just ignore her character traits, robbing her of agency on the biggest plot point. The irony: she was screwed over twice, by her world and by her creator.
3. I should avoid future Maeda works. "Charlotte" was good enough, but his attempts at tragedy somehow always become a primitive cliche.
However low, it's overrated.

I do not understand the low rating. Change of the pacing is INTENTIONAL like it is in many Maeda Jun's works like Clannad or Kanon or Angel Beats etc. and it works perfectly. In the first half, together with fun comedy, anime introduces you to the characters and makes you emotionally connected at least on some level. Then on the second part the real story of the anime begins. First half of the anime is basically just a fun building of a stage where the story will happen. This anime made me laugh, cry and everything in between. 8/10

I can't understand all of the negativity towards this show. A seemingly crazy girl shows up in this high school guy's life and turns it upside down. She gets kidnapped and endures horrors no one should and eventually finds her way back to people who actually care about her.
Like Clannad, the early humor is intended to set you up for the massive gut-punch to come.
This is a lot better than many claim it is.

So this is the third time P.A. Works produced an anime based on story by Maeda Jun (from Key), after Angel Beats and Charlotte. And it performs just like one (as well as prior Key works).
Honestly based on the picture and name I thought it would be slice of life but turns out, see above paragraph. Protagonist is male, yup.
And here I want to address something after seeing some prior comments. The typical visual novel story progression is almost always first half just bs fun, then serious, then backstory and finally "True Ending" or similar. Although this story is an original anime story, the same presentation is used, because it works for this target group.
Bottom line, put simply, this is a story by Key, while the anime/direction is also good as expected. That should be enough info.

For the first half, it does give some similarity feeling of Angel Beats, which I thought this could be good. Unfortunately, second half was bad. Overall, I did not enjoy watching this, although I do think the underneath meaning or intention is something good, it is just really different from what I expected.

The premise of someone claiming to be a god was interesting. This series is broken into 2 halves. The 1st half is silly comedy and was a blast to watch; however the 2nd half takes a turn and gets serious and gloomy; to the point you ask yourself "wait, where did all the comedy go?". Unfortunately, the two different tones did not mesh well together and there are lots of plot holes in the 2nd half of the series. This series started out great IMO, but lost steam due to a drastic change of tone later on.
