Some PTSD, conflict or tensions. Hero is basically some trash personality villain with good facade.
Banished (almost) find some romance or quiet life - but problematic in such representatives of setting is that there is no pure romance or SOL - mostly because angst, rage, violence, gore or some other unsettling things like pitful revenge of "Hero" group for no logical reason. Anyway - that all make shows too bipolar on emotional spectrum, and such randomizer is not liked by big part of audithory.

For fans only. “Banished from the Hero’s Party” is misleading as it only pertains to the introduction (which you'll find out is a gimmick). The characters come across as artificial, and the romance scenes lack depth and proper buildup. The author’s attempt at slice-of-life storytelling is unconvincing, mistaking mundane events for engaging content. The plot is a disjointed mix of poorly executed elements, including weak conspiracies and an underwhelming climax. Even the side characters fail to evoke any support or interest. The author is poor at writing slice of life, romance, action, conspiracy, drama, adventure, commerce, etc. He includes all these elements and more, but they hurt to watch.

Generally typical anime of that group of genres nowadays with one pleasant exception that I really liked: NORMAL! romance without stupid clichéd harems around shy and foolish main character. Only this deserves couple of points in rating :)
When I wrote about "typical" I didn't mean that it is bad anime. But somewhat weak... only for fans and those who are hungry with normal romance in fantasy stories with a lot of women :)

This series is a concoction of many different elements. There's a strong romantic story that is woven in, along with the constant fighting and violence that occurs. As the series goes on, you learn a significant amount more about the world in which the characters live. You gradually understand why characters behave the way that they do, and the actions that they choose.
It was honestly a refreshing watch with the fast-paced (I guess normal paced?) romance. It was an enjoyable watch. Give it a a go.

Very wholesome, made me smile a lot, despite containing more tragedy than expected.
The romance is unusually straightforward, they like each other and act on it, and neither of them is dense about it, something I always appreciate.
Slice of life content is interspersed with flashbacks to his adventuring days as well as cuts to the present day hero party and how they're faring without him.
Last few episodes shift the tone more towards action, but are too mired in tropes, bad action sequences and characters shouting platitudes at each other, which unfortunatly drags the series down unnecessarily.
It finds its feet somewhat towards the end but not as good as it could have been. Good watch regardless, especially for anyone who wants a relaxing fantasy show.

Everything is going well until episode 9 and the show got messed up after episode 9. But still worth watching. A slice of life with a lot of side tags.

With its premise having quite a lot of potential, this show fails to deliver and becomes very difficult to enjoy. Is it supposed to be a philosophical essay on fate and choice? Is it a story of a hero, of friendship, of madness and obsession? Is it a slow, cheesy romance with some comedy in the mix? Is it a commentary on society and group mentality? It even has drugs and a few redemption stories thrown in the mix. It honestly felt like watching a dozen shows at the same time, all of them painfully mediocre. As a fan of cheesy romances, I'd still refrain recommending this one.

I am glad the anime did not go harem route. It is well paced, slightly cliched anime, but you know, we are alive for more than millennia, it's hard not to cliché something :)
It's good to see a character who is moderately shy where it counts, but is not bulged by others on his decision to stay with his love. In two words, the MC is extremely credible.
Pacing is good, but back story itself leaves a lot of questions and main chars are also puzzled by them, but that gives a lot of room for hope of at least OVA if not S2. In short, I do recommend this anime for those who favour real romance with a bit of adventure.

A strong character gets kicked out of a group and starts a peaceful life sounded interested and for a good portion it was as it follows likeable characters and innocent romance between a couple. However, the series for me got weighed down with numerous subplots and side characters that weren't for me. The romance worked for me, but everything else didn't. In the end, this was a mixed watch, but maybe the subplots will work for you.

I wasn't expecting much of this anime but was a real nice change of pace of an anime.
The main character who actually have "balls" you'll understand if you watched the whole series.
I really love the character evolution of each character in this anime.
