They normally consist of mostly new content; they are different from and should not be confused with recaps, where old content is shown again for no particular purpose. Generally, to qualify as a flashback, the scene must advance the narrative. The opposite is a flashforward. See also in medias res.
· flashforwardA flashforward is a scene that temporarily takes the narrative forward in time from the current point of the story in literature, film, television and other media. Flashforwards are often used to represent events expected, projected, or imagined to occur in the future. They may also reveal significant parts of the story that have not yet occurred, but soon will in greater detail. It is primarily a postmodern narrative device, named by analogy to the more traditional flashback.

· romanceRomance describes a story that deals with love between two or more characters typically also having an optimistic ending. Romance is also a difficulty encountered when creating a harem.

· tortureTorture involves the deliberate act of inflicting pain, to either fulfill a desire of the torturer, or apply coercion to compel action from the victim. This is distinct from erotic torture, which is generally for the purpose of using (almost) any form of physical or excessive psychological abuse to inflict physical and/or mental pain, with the goal of inducing sexual pleasure.
