Weightlifting & Para Powerlifting Records

In the sport of Weightlifting, the bodyweight categories changed on the 1 Jun 2025. With the new bodyweight categories, the records were all reset, and a set of British Standards came in to effect from 11 July 2025. Athletes must hit these British Standards to be added to the below record tables. Any records set before this time in the old bodyweight categories can be found below in the 'Historic Weightlifting Records' section.

Please note: Results recorded in virtual weightlifting competitions are eligible for rankings and event qualification, but not records. This is to provide a meaningful competitive experience while maintaining the integrity of the British standards.

Records Broken at Tier 2 and 3 Events

When a record is broken at tier 2 or tier 3, it is the responsibility of the lifter/coach/host to contact BWL within 1 week of breaking the record, and the competition organiser must provide evidence of lifts achieved, confirmation of records being claimed plus the names of the 3 licenced referees. The evidence can be emailed to [email protected].
