Bit of a weird request but I can do with some input here.
Situation: I'm building a little box with five colorful lights and matching pushbuttons (just on/off). It's for toddler.
The lights/buttons will be numbered (left to right: 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5). Each button will also have a symbol (star, circle, square, triangle, hexagon).
Question: how would you order the colors, and which symbol goes with each color / number?

Someone just shared with me #Apple's new creative suite service, #CreatorStudio. I'm not going to consider it for obvious reasons. And you shouldn't either!
Even if it ends up being a quality suite, DO NOT USE IT. It's a trap! There are free apps that do the exact same thing as these creative suites. They only exist to get you comfortable enough in them that you feel an intense sense of sunk cost in your familiarity so you can never stop paying for the service.
I do not care that the price looks better than #Adobe's #CreativeCloud. It's still 100% more than you should ever have to spend on software. Especially when I know for a fact that it WILL enshittify.
That is, if it hasn't *already* been an "agentic app" with "AI" shoved up every orifice, which you have to work around just to do any work!
IT'S A SCAM.

"Flowers and Fruit in a Forest," Rachel Ruysch, 1714.
Here's our old friend Rachel Ruysch (1664-1750), one of the greatest still life artists of all time, bar none. The daughter of a scientist, she learned to observe nature and painted it with amazing detail.
She is celebrated for the detail and precision of her work, straddling the line between scientific illustration and art. Here we have a heap of fruit (apricots, plums, peaches, grapes, melons, pomegranates, and even an ear of Indian corn) crowned with an array of flowers (mostly roses and tulips, and I think a peony and some morning glories). Fluttering about are moths and butterflies and other insects. In the upper left a bird sits in a nest, and a lizard creeps along a branch.
While it all looks glorious, it is a bit of a fantasy. Not all of this would be in season at the same time; by the time the peaches and plums would be ripe, the tulips would only be a memory, and the grapes not quite ready.
She had a long and full life, a happy marriage, earned a good living, and won great acclaim in her lifetime. Quite a lady!

“Tomorrow’s Sun”, “Sweetest Woman”, “So It Seems”; just amazing songs anchored by Eddie Hooper’s awesome voice.
This is his most sought after record. I’ve had it for years and years, as I’m a HUGE fan of reggae, but holy shit was I shocked to see what people are paying for this record now. Kinda crazy.

An absolute classic, and finding a Point Records press is holy grail territory for me!
“Mule Skinner Blues” is one of the five most RIDICULOUSLY STUPID (and awesome) songs of all time.
My love for that song goes waaaaay back to when I was about 6 or 7, when I would visit my uncle’s house in the summer to use his swimming pool, and I would hear him singing the “haaaaaw ha haw haw haw” part to himself over and over to himself like a deranged mental patient.
“Uncle Ronnie, why do you keep singing that?”
To which he’d reply “Cuz well, I’m an old mule skinner”, and then wink at me.
I thought my Uncle Ronnie was retarded for a very long time.
Turns out, he just liked goofy music.

For me, Alice In Chains happened BEFORE Nirvana mania. I saw the video for “Man In The Box” on MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball (remember THAT shit?!?!), and absolutely loved it. It was around Spring/Summer of ‘91, as Teen Spirit was in September of that same year.
Before the world got FULLY grungified in the Fall, I spent that whole summer listening to nothing but Facelift, which I bought on cassette from the Good Vibrations at the Franklin Village Mall.
There was so much more than “Man In The Box” for my young ears to enjoy.
“We Die Young”, “Sea Of Sorrow”, “Bleed The Freak”… all killer tunes with monster guitar work and Layne’s incredible vocals.
And although they would make far better albums ON WHOLE, those songs are still amongst my fave AIC tunes.

Jackie was an excellent ska and reggae singer, and a great Jamaican.
He was one of the first artists signed to the newly conceived Island Records in 1962, of which THIS was his second to last before leaving Island around ‘69 or ‘70.
He also wrote a couple of hits for the Spencer Davis Group.
There’s so many awesome tunes here, including a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Back Street Girl”, “Put Your Tears Away”, and “Just Out Of Reach”.

Although I do like this album, I’ve never been as gaga over it as some, and I don’t even think it’s their best album (my vote goes to Mother Juno). However, on mornings like this, sometimes you just need a little Sex Beat.

Whew! Serious work happening today on the back-end of all my stuff!
I got a blog entry done, a speedpaint video made and posted, a new greeting card listing created, a newsletter released, and a conversation started about how my storefront marketplace has gone very very quiet in recent months.
It has been a day!
But WOW does it feel good to have accomplished all that stuff! Because life sucks right now and I have to make sure I celebrate the successes, you know? It is imperative that we make things to contradict all the bad, okay? Doing these things today gives me confidence to keep making room to do more. It means I can do it. Not everything in life has to be a dark pit of despair.
So today I share a California Condor—the first bird I’ve actually done that has been *in flight*, with wings extended. I think I have thing with wings, so this was a big step for me. LOL!

"Partridges in Snow," Józef Chełmoński, 1891.
Chełmoński (1849-1914) was a Polish painter known for his realistic landscapes and romanticized scenes of life in Poland.
Born when there really was no Poland as a country; it was partitioned among Austria, Russia, and Prussia after being defeated in war. He lived his entire life without seeing his country unified, but we know from his writings and his work that he was one of many who loved his country and sought to see it reunified and again a sovereign nation, which didn't happen until a few years after his death.
Chełmoński's daughter said he loved to watch partridges near his home in the region of Mazovia, and this reflects his observations. They're almost photographic in detail. This is regarded as one of his greatest works, for the sheer quality and simplicity.
Under the reunified Poland, Chełmoński's work is regarded as a national treasure. Over 100 of his paintings are missing; possibly looted by the Nazis and are yet to be recovered.

I’d never heard of a Townsend’s Warbler before, but apparently they are quite colorful!
These little birds live mostly on the Pacific Coast of North America, and we have them here in my home county of Humboldt in northern California.
