The double reed quartet will perform arrangements of Second Suite in F (Gustave Holst), Moon River (Henry Mancini), Three Untimely Dances (Carlos Acuna), and Libertango (Astor Piazzolla). Members include students Harbour Buchanan (senior, music education), Abby Sledden (senior, civil engineering), Hayley TeKippe (junior, music education), and Lucas Kral (freshman, mechanical engineering and music performance). The show will feature drawings, models, and projects created in the ARCH 4020 studio and the ARCH 4310 drawing course, plus a selection of other work students developed during their semester abroad. Enjoy refreshments and view the work during this public reception from 5–6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, in Gallery 181 and the atrium of the College of Design.

Borlaug Poster Competition
Prior to the 2025 Norman Borlaug Lecture, check out student posters on display as part of the Norman Borlaug Lecture Poster Competition for Graduate and Undergraduate Students. The poster display will take place on the ground floor of Curtiss Hall on Oct. 21 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Iowa State students will share about work or projects they’ve done related to the general area of world issues, including food, agriculture, climate, nutrition, economies, technology and more.

Join us for an evening of empowered mending!
Repair Café returns to ISU on Oct. 22, 2025, from 4- 7 p.m. in the atrium of the Student Innovation Center (SICTR).
This free community event, sponsored by the University Library, Office of Sustainability, and Student Innovation Center is where volunteers help repair broken items to give them a longer life cycle. Repair Café aims to reduce waste, share tools and resources, teach basic maintenance, and help build self-reliance skills in our community. There’s no charge for any repairs during a Repair Café event.
Items eligible for repair at this event include:
Bikes/Skateboards
Jewelry and Accessories
Clothing and Mending
Small Home and Kitchen Appliances
Computers and Laptop software
Campus and community volunteers will be on hand to assess repair needs and complete eligible repairs on-site. While not required, participants are encouraged to bring replacement parts and repair materials (when possible) otherwise volunteers will make repairs with the best materials available.

Speaker: Otis Moss
Reverend Otis Moss III will share how Black communities created a spiritual world view to handle existential issues facing our democracy. He will discuss how Black leaders used their faith to find strength to confront civic challenges and celebrate the ideas of love, justice, resilience, and self-determination. Those lessons can be used today as we examine our moral and internal compass as individuals and a democratic society.Rev. Moss is the senior pastor of Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ, which has more than 8,500 congregants. Rev. Moss is an author and filmmaker, and his latest book is Dancing in the Darkness. He founded The Unashamed Media Group, a justice-centered, faith-based agency committed to producing and curating stories to inspire the heart and challenge the mind. In 2020, Rev. Moss created Otis' Dream, a short film about his grandfather's unsuccessful attempt to vote in 1946.
The University Book Store will be onsite selling "Dancing in the Darkness: Spiritual Lessons for Thriving in Turbulent Times" at the event.

After celebrating at the Homecoming Pep Rally, head to central campus for more homecoming fun. A brief awards ceremony recognizing students and teams participating in homecoming activities throughout the week kicks off the fun. Food is served as a late-night snack with music and entertainment during CyFest before the bells ring at midnight. On the Campanile’s ring it is tradition to kiss your significant other under the glow of fireworks.
