MindZen is a free web-based mind mapping tool that helps you organize your thoughts, brainstorm ideas, and visualize complex information. MindZen runs entirely in your browser - no registration or data upload required.

Quick Start

  1. Open index.html in a modern web browser
  2. Start with the central "Main Topic" node
  3. Right-click to add child nodes or use the toolbar buttons
  4. Drag nodes to rearrange your mind map
  5. Double-click nodes to edit text
  6. Save your work using Export → JSON

Installation

No installation required! Simply:

  1. Clone or download this repository
  2. Open index.html in your web browser
  3. Start mapping!

For the best experience, use a modern browser like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge.


Keyboard Shortcuts

General

  • Ctrl+K - Open command palette
  • Ctrl+F - Search nodes
  • Esc - Clear selection

Editing

  • F2 - Edit selected node text
  • Ctrl+C - Copy node
  • Ctrl+V - Paste node
  • Ctrl+X - Cut node
  • Ctrl+D - Duplicate node
  • Del - Delete selected node
  • N - Add new node

Navigation

  • Ctrl++ - Zoom in
  • Ctrl+- - Zoom out
  • Ctrl+0 - Fit to screen
  • V - Select tool
  • H - Pan tool
  • T - Text tool
  • C - Connect tool
  • D - Disconnect tool

History

  • Ctrl+Z - Undo
  • Ctrl+Y - Redo

File Operations

Troubleshooting
