A free operating system for modern PCs/laptops that plays games well, ones supported by Linux, that uses a nifty windowing system and has cute fox women in wallpapers.

This is an opinionated gaming-oriented bootc image, an "immutable" linux-based operating system. Featuring the CachyOS kernel optimizations, Niri a tiling window manager, DMS/Quickshell, Xenia the fox in theming, and various other software tweaks and flatpaks that suit my tastes and aesthetics. Its emphasis is on high gaming performance on bootc, and is also suitable for content creation needs (Art/Videos/Audio). It is at least slightly experimental and pioneering new ground with the newness of Arch Bootc vs the well-trod ground of Fedora Bootc. It should end up easier to use and understand for the average user than base Arch/CachyOS, and offers the power of bootc for fearless backups and compatibility with the bootc ecosystem. (You can try out other "operating systems" without reinstalling, with one simple sentence!)

This OS can be used by first installing Aurora OR Bluefin (or any related Bootc image) and rebasing with terminal command:

sudo bootc switch ghcr.io/xeniameraki/xeniaos:latest

(You may be aware from Bazzite a warning to not rebase between desktop environments. This has to do with KDE -> Gnome, or Gnome -> KDE. Rebasing from KDE or Gnome Bootc to XeniaOS' Niri base is unproblematic.)

• Content creator software preinstalled (Kdenlive, Krita, Audacity, etc)

• You are encouraged to use Bazaar for a majority of your software installs, use flatpaks and appimages whenever possible

This OS is only compatible and intended for desktop PCs with AMD/Intel graphics, and has optimizations for V3 cpus. Nvidia graphics is unsupported by this image and will never be supported directly, a custom image fork of this OS would be allowed and called for and would be the only real way of playing games on XeniaOS with Nvidia GPUs. Please do not ask us directly for support with Nvidia GPUs.
