I do Information Design in higher ed.
As an Instructional Technologist, I work closely with faculty to organize course content, media and meta data into intuitive interfaces and usable taxonomies, while incorporating various software.
By day, I manage cloud software services at NYU. My group supports a Web Publishing environment, a video streaming platform and a learning management system. I focus on usability and information architecture in couse sites and applications. Aspects of my current work also include accessibility compliance and change management.
By night, I teach interactive content development at CUNY's Grad School of Journalism. My reporting courses cover web development skills and data science projects and include a big focus is on information design.
Much of my experience is in web development and site management. Prior to my work managing web services in higher ed, I worked on the web teams at a major news site and at a museum, plus I did project management for a web design firm — always with a focus on user interaction and information design.
