The os script is called as needed to fill in OS-specific parameters.

Instead of calling a static configure script, I think we can have the rules call a dynamic script to fill in the variables. Perhaps it isn't as elegant as |

Thanks -- this is far less a hack than what I did to remove the configure script. |
