Summary of Changes

Hello @cka-dev, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request focuses on resolving various UI-related issues to improve the application's stability and user experience. The changes include updating a dependency import for better compatibility, implementing a mechanism to ensure text input fields accurately reflect underlying data changes, and refining the visual design of a key action button within the drawing interface.

Highlights

  • Dependency Update: The Hilt ViewModel import path in CahierCanvasScreen.kt has been updated from androidx.hilt.navigation.compose.hiltViewModel to androidx.hilt.lifecycle.viewmodel.compose.hiltViewModel, aligning with potential library changes or best practices.
  • UI State Synchronization: A LaunchedEffect has been introduced in CahierCanvasScreen.kt to ensure that the titleState and bodyState TextFieldValues are correctly synchronized with changes in the uiState.note object, preventing potential display inconsistencies.
  • UI/UX Improvement: The 'Clear' button in DrawingToolbox.kt has been refactored from a text-based Button to an IconButton featuring a clear_all_24px icon, enhancing the visual clarity and user experience of the drawing toolbox.

Code Review

This pull request aims to fix UI bugs. The change to use hiltViewModel from the correct lifecycle package is good. The update in DrawingToolbox.kt to use an IconButton for the 'Clear' action improves UI consistency. However, the new LaunchedEffect in CahierCanvasScreen.kt, while fixing the issue of note content not loading, introduces a critical data loss bug. My review includes a suggestion to fix this by changing the key of the LaunchedEffect to prevent overwriting user input during edits.

mutableStateOf(TextFieldValue(uiState.note.text ?: ""))
}

LaunchedEffect(uiState.note) {

critical

Using uiState.note as the key for LaunchedEffect can lead to data loss. Since note is a data class, any change to its properties (like isFavorite) will create a new object and trigger this effect. If the user is editing the title or body while another property changes (e.g., through a background sync or another UI action), their input could be overwritten by the state from uiState.note, which might be stale.

To prevent this, the effect should only run when the note itself changes, not on every property update. Using uiState.note.id as the key will ensure this effect runs only when a new note is loaded (when its ID changes), preventing accidental data loss during editing.

LaunchedEffect(uiState.note) {
LaunchedEffect(uiState.note.id) {
