What else, do you think, should be added into this guideline?
The goal of this project is to provide complete Simplified Chinese translation of CakePHP documentation CakePHP Cookbook and regular update it according to the original English version.
There are a few other attempts (TODO: link to reference) to translate this CakePHP Cookbook, but we have not found any complete ones. It is easy for a CakePHP zealot to start the translation but difficult to finish. There is a Chinese saying: 90% is only halfway. Don't mention the update of translation due to the active development of the CakePHP project itself and thus the regular update of the documentation. Seeing their slow progress and incomplete translation, Ma feifan initiated this translation project and eventually we made our way here.
- We are open source. CakePHP Cookbook is open source. We join it so that all CakePHP users can benefit from this central place. Thus qualified individuals can join us in this cause. Less effort is required to make constant improvements.
- We have guidelines, workflow, checklist, and common vocabulary to ensure the quality of our translation.
If you are interested in contributing to this translation project, please contact us! (TODO: provide contact here)
You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the CakePHP world will benefit from it!
For how to start the translation work, please refer to the following sections.
- Git Setup How to set up Git on your local machine for the translation work.
- Translation Workflow The workflow of the translation.
- Build with Sphinx How to set up sphinx and use it to build the cookbook.
- list of common terminologies: to ensure consistency of this translation project
- list of difficult words/phrases: discussion and available options for difficult words, and once finalized, make into common terminologies
- task management: previously we used tower.im (good support for mobile, but Chinese UI) when the repository was hosted in git.oschina.net. Could we use github's issue system? Other choices?
