To use this in your latex git project, navigate to your git repository and do the following:

Set tchdr as a remote:
git remote add tchdr [email protected]:trevorcampbell/tchdr.git -
Add tchdr as a subtree:
git subtree add --prefix tchdr/ tchdr master --squash -
In your main LaTeX file, add tchdr to the preamble:
\usepackage{tchdr/tchdr}
Any time you want to update your local copy of tchdr, navigate to your git repository and do the following:

Make sure your current branch is clean; commit all current changes (do not mix project/subproject commits)

Pull tchdr as a subtree in the tchdr folder:
git subtree pull --prefix tchdr/ tchdr master --squash
In order to push your own changes to tchdr:

Create your own fork of tchdr, and add it as a remote:
git remote add tchdrfork [url_to_your_fork] -
Push the changes to your fork:
git subtree push --prefix [your_repository_location]/tchdr tchdrfork master -
Open a pull request for your fork to merge into tchdr
