내가 베른의 특허국 사무실에 앉아 있을 때 문득 이런 생각이 났다. 어떤 사람이 자유낙하 하고 있으면 그는 자신의 체중을 느끼지 못할 것이다. 나는 깜짝 놀랐다. 이런 간단한 착상이 나에게 큰 감명을 주었는데 후에 중력이론을 생각하게 됐다.
