make checkto catch common errors. Fixed any that came up.Description:
This PR fixes a bug where an unknown override ID caused an unexpected error.
Additionally, the logged error message was already scrubbed making it harder to find the root cause. As such a fix was added to allow the original error message to be logged, as originally intended.
