In bone marrow, erythroblastic islands form around a central macrophage, where CD43 sialomucin on erythroblasts interacts with CD169 on macrophages, facilitating cell adhesion and supporting erythropoiesis. In this study, we evaluate the role of CD43 in erythroid differentiation.
