What About Nutritional Supplements?
I get questions about nutritional supplements. Here is my personal experience and honest opinion about taking nutritional supplements.
For the past 12 years I have benefited by taking a variety of nutritional supplements. I have used different products over the years sourced from different distributors. I have learned a few things that I’ll share here.
- Nutritional supplements are not a substitute for good nutrition. Without an improvement in nutrition and lifestyle, nutritional supplements probably have little value.
- Get high quality nutritional supplements. These are usually sourced from companies that specialize in producing high quality supplements with ingredients sourced in controlled environments. Stay away from the mass produced supplements sold in the grocery drug stores that are manufactured by big corporations and big pharma.
- The big question people ask me is what nutritional supplements I take. Here is it with some context:
- Juice Plus. Here is my affiliate link to access their products (yes I’m signed up to be a partner / distributer).
Whole-Foods, Plant-Based Nutrition | Juice Plus+ https://johnmarion.juiceplus.com
- I have taken different supplements over the years from different companies, all who have high quality supplements.
- While I benefit greatly from taking the Juice Plus supplements, I don’t advocate these or any nutritional supplements over and above eating real food.
- The company that you buy nutritional supplements from my also have “nutritional” products that are a good choice for a low sugar, low carb diet. Use the supplements but read the labels of the other products such as snack bars and shakes before you decide to order those types of products.
- Don’t prioritize or over emphasize the use of nutritional supplements without making any changes to what you eat first. Work on cutting out sugar, carbs and processed foods.
- Nutritional supplements are not a cure for eating junk food. You can’t counter-balance poor nutrition with nutritional supplements.
- Taking nutritional supplements is a nutritional boost to those who are already eating healthy, nutritious food and living a healthy life-style.
