OL Commitments

Orientation Leader Commitments 

Part of deciding to apply to be a member of the OTeam is knowing what is required of you. The Orientation Leader position is part-time with hours ranging from 25-30 hours during program weeks. We’ll cover this information during your interview, but to help you plan please note that successful Orientation Leader applicants will be available for required commitments.

Training Commitments

    • Training is comprised of two components- spring semester training and summer training. Spring semester training will begin after Spring Break and summer training will begin during the final week of May and run for two weeks. More details about specific training dates and details will be updated soon. All training is paid.
    • Availability for OL Retreat(s), OL training, and NSO dates is non-negotiable.

Orientation Commitments

    • Orientation programs will run in the summer months from June-August where Orientation Leaders will be required to work in-person.
    • You should plan to be in State College over the summer. Additional details about dates will be updated soon.
    • Early morning and late evening are required.
    • Most programs run Monday-Thursday with an occasional Sunday work.
    • There is a break from NSO programming running from mid-July to mid-August.
    • OLs may be enrolled in summer courses or hold other employment discussed on a case-by-case basis and subject to approval from the assistant director for NSO.
      • Please be prepared to share your interest in a summer class or other employment at your individual interview 
    • Orientation Leaders are responsible for securing their own housing for the summer.
