About Xee

Xee is a streamlined and convenient image viewer and browser. It’s similar to macOS's preview app, but lets you easily browse the entire contents of folders and archives, move and copy image files quickly, and supports many more image formats. View contents in archives and folders, faster and easier, without extracting them. When your native preview refuses to display images because of an “unsupported file format”, use Xee for the job. You’re not only having a better view of all your files but better management also. Organize your image gallery in minutes. Xee is a Mac image viewer we always wanted and never had. It’s sleek, it’s fast, and it works with all types of images. Browse images in archives, view images of all formats and manage your galleries.

    "NO LONGER SUPPORTED"

    Posted 2024-10-18

Pros: Back in its day, it was the best viewer for Macs, bar none. But now? I haven't a clue. I wouldn't buy any Mac model later than 2015. After 2015, Macs cannot be upgraded or repaired. Apple's 5-years spent on their "butterfly" keyboard was a disaster, which they *finally* abandoned. Macs are now well-known for overheating and giving out after a few years of use. If I got one for free, I'd turn around and sell it while it still worked.

Cons: The developer has abandoned all support for this product, yet still has the nerve to continue charging users for it. Support was pretty bad in the past, but now it's officially dead. It's hard to give a good rating to any software which isn't supported. Xee has a lot of nice features, but if you have any issues, questions, problems, TOUGH LUCK!!!

Overall: It its day, it was the best viewer for Macs. But support was abandoned years ago. It worked very well on Mojave, but has significant issues using Monterey on an Intel Mac. Whether it works at all on more recent non-Intel, Apple-only Macs, I have no idea. How well it works on Intel Macs using a MacOS after Monterey, I have no idea about that either. One thing is certain, after you pay, you're totally on your own.

    TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!!!

"Best for sorting your image collection. Best slide show viewer."

    Posted 2023-02-11

Pros: Easy to define up to 10 destinations folders to sort your images in. Easy to watch a slide show of your image folder.

Cons: No support. For 4 bucks, what do you expect?
Some people complain that their old version stopped working. Just buy the new one!
No editor. It is a slide show viewer and image sorter, not an editor. I use Luminar AI for editing.

Overall: My favorite app! For years it was not being updated, but now it is back. Now if they can only get it to work on MacOS Ventura and up.
