PowerSong News

We are very pleased to be releasing our first Beta version of the highly usable church presentation software called PowerSong, which has been based on significant user feedback and suggestions. In this new version, you can now categorise songs and effectively use the integrated bible. Some significant bugs have been fixed, such as the font size bug. See the change log for further details.

We now consider PowerSong far more stable than the Alpha versions. If you experience a bug, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can get everything completely fixed for the upcoming 1.0.0 release.

We have released a new version this month of our highly usable open source song projection software called PowerSong. Version 0.9.4 makes PowerSong more usable than ever! We are getting close to a first stable release, but we imagine going through a few more pre 1.0 releases first. Please download and let us know what you think.

Updates since 0.9.2 Alpha:

1) Made a new plugin to test the projection.

2) Improved handling of plugins in the event of one throwing an exception. There is still a lot to do, however.

3) Added simple database file version check. It is still possible to load existing databases, but it may be worthwhile exporting them and importing them into new ones to stop message boxes popping up in the future.... read more

1) It is now possible to move items in the playlist up and down.

2) The song index is now recreated or added to whenever an import is performed or a song added to the database. If a song is edited or removed, the index is not updated. This will be fixed in a future version.

3) Fixed bug where double clicking an empty playlist would crash the program.

4) Changed text "Configure Playlist Item" to "Change Style" in the playlist menu to more clearly indicate its purpose.... read more

We know the importance of allowing migration from other, possibly commercial offerings. If you have Presenter, then you will be glad to know that we have started our crusade with that package. You will be able to import songs from the expensive Presenter package directly into a PowerSong database.

A new release has been made as we approach Beta. Version 0.9.0 contains a lot of changes, and is fast approaching production usability. We welcome anyone to download and try the software, and let us know if there are any problems.

Both the setup file and the source code of the new PowerSong v0.8.2 have been released. This release includes a number of bug fixes, interface improvements and an experimental Plugin feature.

We have released a pretty usable version of PowerSong, which is quite stable however it should be kept in mind the fact that it is still in Alpha. Download for evaluation purposes. Additionally, we have also released the source code as it is presently. You will need Visual Studio to develop it further.

We are keenly looking for testers to join the project to help us iron out the bugs as early as possible! Feel free to play around with this new software, letting us know on the public tracker which issues you encounter. They will be dealt with promptly so that we can push a 1.0 release as soon as possible.
