12-ants

12-ants is a program that will fill your desktop with virtual ants - just for fun. They move around rapidly and in a group, according to the behavior you want them to follow.

Those behaviors are: chasing the cursor, fleeing from the cursor, or just strolling around the screen minding their own business.

Other options included in the program are the ability to adjust the speed with which the ants move, their transparency (22% by default), and the number of ants that show up - anywhere from three to fifty.

12-ants is a curious little program, fun at times, maybe a little annoying after awhile, but ideal for playing a practical joke.
