Field Art@The Historiothèque

Home the writings of interdisciplinary artist-researcher and Field Artist, A.G.

My name is A.G. and I am an interdisciplinary artist-research from the Greater Montreal Region in Quebec, Canada. I have 30 years of experience in painting and musical composition, 27 years as a sound designer, and a little more than 20 years as an independent scholar. I am a “Field Artist”, meaning that I go out “into the field” to collect data and experiences and then I go back “into the laboratory” to turn the data and experiences into cultural productions/artifacts.

About 15 years ago or so, I created a new concept for my art studio/sound design lab/research lab called “The Historiothèque”. I also have been working for many years on reconceptualizing my interdisciplinary art-research practice as an “Art Operation”. The Historiothèque, the name, is inspired in part by Paul Otlet’s concept of “Mondothèque”, in his conception of the Mundaneum in general.
